Why one “vitamin deficiency” is erroneous

Deficiencies? The idea of a single vitamin deficiency is erroneous for the following reasons:

  • Vitamins are not used individually by the body, they have a synergistic relationship with other vitamins in their use by the body.
  • Vitamins do not come to us by nature in individual packages, or isolated unto themselves. Eg: An orange does not contain just Vitamin C.

To say that one has a Vitamin C deficiency is not the true picture for there is no one food that contains the only source of Vitamin C. All real foods contain vitamin C, as well as all other vitamins. Therefore, a person would not be deficient in just the one vitamin, but in multiple vitamins.

Interesting food for thought!
