Here is a very important point.
Natural: means vitamins as found in natural foods. Untampered with any way that might change their molecular, their biological or biochemical combinations, or their action. This usually means that only the fiber and moisture are removed. All labels of truly NATURAL food concentrates should indicate the exact food source from which the vitamin is obtained.
Synthetic: Means that in the laboratory the scientist has reconstructed the exact structure of the CRYSTALLINE molecule by "putting together" or chemically combining the same molecules from other sources. Chemically, therefore, there is no difference between the two. The Crystalline may have a slight advantage in that it is difficult to reduce any natural product to an absolute pure state and any impurities would be "synergists" hence giving a little added value to the Crystalline over the Synthetic.
On the label for either Synthetic or Crystalline only the chemical name of the single vitamin is usually given. Legally it is not necessary to give the source from which the synthetic chemical is derived.
The problem is that vitamins, when isolated or man made in a factory are not in their original form (apples, oranges, broccoli, spinach etc.) and they are merely chemicals. The body does not recognize chemical vitamins as usable nutrients, because they don't work the same way as whole foods.
Vitamins have been produced as commodity chemicals and made widely available as inexpensive semi synthetic and synthetic-source since the middle of the 20th century.
So by using a chemical man made vitamin this will put an added stress on your pet’s body to try to assimilate the chemically made substance.
So we ask: Can your pets supplements make them sick.
Chemical supplement's can reverse what you are trying to accomplish. Your so called natural pet vitamin in reality actually is making things worse.
You have to stop focusing on RDA percentages, and do not be concerned by the label wars.
Your pet’s body knows the difference between real whole food and fake chemicals, and it will always prefer real food.
Foods contain more than just vitamins; they also contain cofactors, enzymes and helper nutrients that allow vitamins to work.
Foods are never found in high potency, so your pets body won't suffer any toxic side effects that have been proven to exist with all chemical vitamin pills.
It is nearly impossible to overdose vitamins in its original whole food form.
So when looking for a better nutritional vitamin or pet food check the labels your pet will love you for it?
Poor Quality Food:
Many pet owners do not understand the importance of carefully choosing the best food for their dog.
A raw food diet can help, but this is not always convenience. So the next best thing is to first give your dog the highest quality food that you can afford.

What is really in your pet food?
The modern pet food diet with some so called premium brands, just meet minimum nutritional guidelines. Most of the foods today consist primarily of poor quality protein with a lot of cereal grains like corn, wheat and added gluten. It may not support your pet's optimum performance, health or longevity.
Domestic dogs and cats are carnivores by nature. Their ancestors lived off fresh meat rich in enzymes and complex nutrients. They supplemented their food by eating grass and dirt which were teaming with digestive aids that helped break down and process the food.
Dry and canned pet foods are void of essential nutrients and digestive enzymes. With their relatively simple and short digestive tracts require that they be fed the ancestral diet they naturally selected over time, which is high in protein and low to moderate in fat and almost no carbohydrate at all.
Your dog or cat does not have a metabolic requirement for carbohydrate. Yet most pet foods contain as much as 50% carbohydrate, way too much for good health.
The modern pet food provides plenty of calories but the nutrient content may not be there for a healthy.
Many pet food companies will also add extra vitamins to their food.
BUT WHAT REALLY ARE THESE ADDED NUTRIENTS?

How does your pet food or vitamin label read: Ascorbic Acid, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Cyanocobalamin USP, Acetate, Thiamine Mononitrate or Wheat Germ, Acerola Cherry, Rose Hips, Carrot Juice?
SYNTHETIC AND CHEMICAL VITAMINS ARE NOT NUTRITION!
That is an important point. Because most pet supplements called “whole food” are really combinations of real foods and isolated or CHEMICAL or synthetic vitamins. Carefully read the labels to see. Look for these words to identify;
Chemical or Made Made Vitamins on a label:
- Vitamin B6 Pyridoxine Hydrochloride
- Vitamin B1 Thiamine Hydrochloride
- Vitamin B3 Niacin or niacinamide
- Vitamin A (Palmitate)
- ????Ascorbic acid: learn how the average Vitamin C supplement is made
- ?Riboflavin
- Vitamin E Mixed tocopherols( the white bread of vit E ) fractionated vitamin.
- Vitamin E acetate aslo ( the white bread of vit E ) fractionated vitamin.
- Vitamin C (Sodium Ascorbate) (Ascorbyl Palmitate)
Furthermore, and most importantly, synthetic vitamins are not really vitamins at all. They are fractions of vitamins. For example, natural vitamin C is whole and complete, but ascorbic acid, which is the vitamin C used in most supplements, is missing Rutin, Bioflavonoids and the "J and K" factors. Because these vital nutrient cofactors are missing, the supplement will actually "rob" the missing elements from bodily tissues and bones.
Chemistry Quick Facts
Thus, taking vitamins other than all-natural whole-food vitamins can actually create a vitamin deficiency in your pets body!
Man made chemical vitamins are not foods, so instead of vitamins and minerals on a label, you should be looking for the names of foods and herbs on the label. Don’t be fooled by high milligrams, high potency, standardization or any other such terms that just do not apply to real foods from nature.
Here’s a hint of how to ensure you’re buying healthy all natural, whole-food vitamins. Read the label, and look for ingredient names that are from natural foods or plants. Names such as wheat germ, brewer’s yeast, green pepper, orange peel, rose hips, safflower oil, acerola cherry, shiitake mushroom, alfalfa, black strap molasses dunaliella salina, wild yam, carrot, rice bran, chickweed, wheat grass, amla, barley grass, nettles, algae, kelp, pine park, grape seed extract, turmeric, etc.
The only supplement that someone should give their pet or their family, therefore, is a whole food formula WITHOUT any isolated or synthetic man made vitamins.
Just saying a vitamin is natural is very misleading. An automobile can be labeled all natural because all the parts of that car came from the earth, the steel, rubber, plastics and even the gasoline that runs it at one point came from the earth. Comparing gasoline to a supplement may not be that far of a stretch. Petroleum, coal tar and petroleum by-products are rearranged molecularly in the laboratory and are turned into synthetic vitamins like Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Cyanocobalamin USP, Acetate, Thiamine Mononitrate, and ascorbic acid.
Not all pet food is bad; there are many pet food companies that really put out the effort to make a good food. Be the educated consumer and know what you are giving your precious family member (your pet).
We have found though natural pet vitamins are few and far between. They have not caught up with the food industry.
Instead of giving your pet a less superior food then supplementing with a pet vitamin that is most likely a chemical.
Try to find the best food you can and give your pet digestive enzymes so the food will digest properly and your pet will get the most nutrition out of the food.
Taking a supplemental with probiotics and enzyme can help support their digestive system and also your pet's immune system.
